Buemann's illustrations can often seem almost childlike, yet at the same time they are simple, stylish, and minimalistic. The universe is often created with thin black lines – often focusing on conveying difficult emotions in a simple way. She tries to cut to the chase without unnecessary lines, and in every drawing, it is her wish to say a lot with very little.

"I have always been interested in people and their feelings – both the rational and the irrational. In my work, I use myself and my own feelings as a starting point, but many people recognize themselves in the works. I believe it is crucial that we do not hide or deny our feelings, but that we dare to acknowledge them as part of being alive. My drawings should be seen as a simple tool to get a little closer to our own emotions."
