Motel One Hotel in Copenhagen - 'hygge' at its finest

In 2020, we embarked on our most extensive interior design project to date – Hotel TwentySeven with 200 rooms. The word 'HYGGE' was a recurring theme throughout the entire design process. Today, Hotel TwentySeven is also known as Motel One.

The interior design reflects the desire for a comfortable and warm yet stylish atmosphere. To achieve this, the colors blue, yellow, and green were used to create a consistent theme throughout the project. Hand-woven kilim rugs, hand-sewn pillows, and hand-sewn bedspreads contribute to the cozy ambiance and coherence of the decor. Simultaneously, furniture was chosen to suit each individual room. One room features a coffee station atop a teak sideboard, the next room has a dedicated lounge area, and separate H27 armchairs were produced for the common areas.

The H27 armchair was designed and produced for this interior design project and has since become so popular that it is now a permanent part of our product range. The chair frames the lobby, inviting guests to relax while also providing a convenient place to put their coffee cup on the armrest. The beautiful pillows with peacocks also originated from this project and can still be purchased on our website today.

With sustainability and reusability in mind, textile remnants were used to re-upholster restored vintage chairs. Several rooms therefore feature both new furniture and old classics.

“The hotel, however, excels not only with its designer furniture and meticulously thought-out interior design, but also with another and equally important component: Hygge.”
