Buemann's illustrations can often seem almost childlike, but are at the same time simple, stylish and minimalist. The universe is often created with thin black lines – often with a focus on conveying difficult emotions in a simple way. She tries to cut to the chase without unnecessary lines, and in every drawing, it is her wish to say a lot with very little.

"I have always been interested in people and their emotions – both the rational and the irrational. In my work, I use myself and my own emotions as a starting point, but a lot of people recognize themselves in the works. I think it is crucial that we do not hide or underestimate our feelings, but that we dare to acknowledge them as part of being alive. My drawings can be seen as a simple tool to get a little closer to our own feelings."
