Buemann's illustrations can often seem almost childlike, yet at the same time they are simple, stylish, and minimalist. The universe is often created with thin black lines – often with a focus on conveying difficult emotions in a simple way. She tries to cut to the bone without unnecessary lines, and in every drawing, it is her wish to say an incredible amount with incredibly little.

"I have always been interested in people and their feelings – both the rational and the irrational. In my work, I use myself and my own feelings as a starting point, but a lot of people recognize themselves in the works. I believe it is crucial that we do not hide or dismiss our feelings, but that we dare to acknowledge them as a part of being alive. My drawings can be seen as a simple tool to get a little closer to our own feelings."
