Halfdan Pisket, born in 1985, was admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts at just 17 years old, and at the age of only 35, he has, among other things, received the Danish Arts Foundation's three-year working grant, the award for the most groundbreaking Danish graphic novel author, 2 x Ping awards for best Danish comic book, the Karen Blixen Award, Politiken's Frit Flet-pris, the Art Poster of the Year for Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and most recently, last year he won the most prestigious international graphic novel award "Grand Prix de Festival International de la Bande Dessinée, Angoulême". In connection with the award, Information referred to him as the Danish wonderboy, and he received praise from the Danish press.
Pisket works with graphics, illustration, animation, video & comics. Among Halfdan's many works, one finds drawings of both iconic simplicity and overwhelming detail, distorted perspectives, humble existences and characters moving across images. His works touch on themes such as mythology, religion, violence and sex. His works are often dark or intense personal narratives.
